Report summerButoh workshop in Pontedera Italy 夏舞踏ワークショップレポート in イタリア

In July, we are giving 4weeks intensive summer Butoh workshop in residency
in Pontedera at Spazio NU (Toscana/Italy).

Each week has each theme and work. Each weekend, we make presentation of
each participants improvisation at site specific location.

First weekend was Butoh procession in Sarzana city. The second weekend was
in the forest.
And the third week .... one day at the former prison building from middle age.
And next day at historical site; Tempio di Minerva Medica from early 19th century.

With more than 20 dancers, this 2days became truly deep time with dancing, playing
sound, sharing, feeling, receiving...

Here is some photos from each place.

July9-16 concert tour "ashita" Hiroko Komiya & Kazuya Nagaya collaboration

It's July, summer. The sky is clear blue, and the sun gives us a lot of lights.
We finished our Butoh performance " Sea of the memory" in Paris Butoh festival in the end of June. And Atsushi danced short solo improvisation in the event "After Skite" at Atelier de Paris-Carolyn Carlson as opening on the 25th June.
And now, Atsushi has started Intensive 1month JINEN Butoh workshop in Italy (Pontedera).
Good energy in the group, deep moments of dance, sharing, caring, feeling, moving, and there
will be various performance time at open air, site specific location, every weekend.

From this week, Hiroko will start concert tour with project "ashita" in collaboration with Japanese musician/composer Kazuya Nagaya in Poland. Since I/hiroko have been working on new collaboration album with him, we have performed together various places like in Tokyo,
Shizuoka, and Paris. We hope it will become deep music journey...

In japanese word, "ashita" means "tomorrow".
With the painful disaster ; earthquake, tsunami and the nuclear power plant accident in Japan on the 11th of March 2011, we have lost so many people and things as if we`ve lost everything.
We`ve been in a great sorrow, mourning to the deads, weeping to what`s lost, standing at the corner looking for a direction which leads us to our new tomorrow "ashita".
May "ashita" bright and warm to everyone enough to melt our painful memories and sorrow.
So we pray. So we wish. From the bottom of our hearts.
Let us open the gate and all the windows to welcome a new tomorrow….ashita

2011 collaboration concert tour "ashita "
The sound of belles deeply reverberates and sometime exists as melody floating through the sky.
The sound of gongs, of the kind ceaselessly heard in the temples of Tibet, or Bali, or Japan.
The sound of string is like flow of the river of memory. The voice is hovering in mid-air, tracing some ethereal melodic curves.
It is a world of sounds slowly echoing together, melding into one, and then reverting to an inner silence.

As the sound fades away, simultaneously, the depth of their own silence grows even greater.

In Kazuya and Hiroko's sound-world, the listeners are invited to the journey where these silent river flows, where lost memory gathers, where you may find small light as

the beginning of next day.
